The sophisticated ZF eight-speed automatic transmission in the Maserati Ghibli puts a vast world of possibilities in the palm of your hand – and, if tempted, your fingertips. The advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, putting the power of the Ghibli engines under your complete control. Thanks to auto-adaptive software, the transmission modifies its shift patterns according to driving style, for an even more rewarding, one-to-one driving experience. And when it comes to long, high-speed journeys, the last two gears, seventh and eighth, are specially calibrated to reduce fuel consumption and further increase comfort.

The transmission sends power to the rear wheels of all Ghibli versions via a standard mechanical Limited-Slip Differential. This ensures superb traction in even challenging situations.

The Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system keeps the performance and comfort of your Maserati Ghibli at their engaging, inspirational best – even when the weather and road conditions are far from ideal. The Ghibli S Q4 is a perfect choice for drivers seeking the dynamic rewards of rear-wheel drive with the back-up of four-by-four traction whenever needed. Each version features the same compact and lightweight Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system. This continually analyses six parameters: driving style, steering angle, yaw angle, speed, wheel slip and power output. Drive torque from the 430 hp V6 petrol engine is then distributed to suit the situation.

A sophisticated algorithm developed by Maserati also continuously monitors dynamic inputs such as wheel speed, steering and yaw angle and even wheel grip versus driving style. Processing all this data, the Q4 system then establishes a dedicated grip profile for each individual wheel. This ensures optimum dynamics for any given road condition, at any time.

The interior of the Ghibli is built around a driver interface that is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. The instrument cluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometer and speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display. The 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit takes pride of place at the centre of the Ghibli dashboard. With very few buttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering it is intuitive and easy. In addition, MTC+ controls the front seat heating, as well as the ventilation, steering wheel heating and the operation of the rear sunblind, where fitted. The screen also displays the rear view, with guidelines, for the reversing camera. The state-of-the-art system features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant, allowing them to carry out tasks using voice command. Through naturally spoken language, it is possible to make a call or access music, messages, reminders, emails, websites and much more.

The infotainment system is also completed by Aux-in, USB sockets and the SD card reader.

The GranLusso and GranSport are fitted with Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights that even further sharpen the striking Maserati look, significantly improve visibility and lower energy usage.

They also offer remarkably long bulb life. With 15 LEDs operating at full beam, these headlights offer a 200% greater field of vision than traditional halogen lights. Road illumination extends by 55 metres and bulb longevity is roughly twice as long. Its glare-free technology enables drivers to gain the full benefits of their headlights without affecting oncoming vehicles. This uses a digital camera behind the rear-view mirror to detect approaching vehicles. It then directs the light away from the other vehicles, leaving them untroubled by glare. The surrounding areas, meanwhile, remain safely and effectively lit with near-daylight quality illumination.

50:50 weight distribution Lightweight construction, intelligent systems and trusted principles are key to the inimitable pleasures of grand touring in the Maserati Ghibli. With the Ghibli range, this is demonstrated by a rigid and extremely secure steel cell using an array of steel and aluminium alloys. Together, the configuration maximises strength, minimises weight and retains the sports sedan’s perfect 50:50 weight distribution. Skyhook suspensions The Ghibli GranSport features the Skyhook suspension as standard, with shock absorbers delivering continuous damping variation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movement of each wheel and the car’s body to determine the road conditions and how the car is being driven. It then instantly adjusts the settings of each damper accordingly. Brakes

All versions of the Maserati Ghibli feature powerful Brembo brakes carefully matched to engine performance. The discs are dual-cast, combining the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass and, therefore, increase handling prowess.

The exhilaration of the drive, the luxurious comforts and the dramatically tuned engine note are not the only onboard entertainment. You also have some exceptional audio system choices. The optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound system offers the most elevated levels of audio refinement, with every component uniquely tailored to perfectly match the Ghibli interior. To achieve this, Harman Kardon sound engineers worked very closely with the development team at Maserati. The core of the system is a state-of-the-art, 900-watt amplifier, delivering rich and detailed sound quality, whatever the source − be it radio, MP3 player, iPhone® or audio streaming device. No fewer than 12 independent channels are deployed, for superb balance within the car environment. A special high-performance subwoofer handles the low-end frequencies, while the mid-range drivers and tweeters ensure that every instrument and every artist can be appreciated in full. 10 high-powered speakers carefully distributed throughout the cabin guarantees sublime sound for all on board the Ghibli.

For those seeking the ultimate acoustics in their Maserati Ghibli, the answer is the optional Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system – the last word in sound perfection. Fifteen speakers, with mid-range drivers and rear woofers made from aramid fibre, have been strategically built into the car’s architecture, while a 1,280-watt amplifier ensures immersive sound for all on board. Advanced aluminium tweeters capture the faintest audio subtleties, while a rock-solid bass is delivered by Rohacell® - a stiff, highly resilient material often used in the construction of rockets and aircraft. The Bowers & Wilkins system is compatible with most disc formats and features a built-in USB connector for a smartphone, iPod or MP3 player. Alternatively, tracks can be streamed directly either via Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto®.

With a new two-lane gear lever featuring a dedicated Park button, the sophisticated eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox delivers improved comfort, faster gear shifting, better fuel consumption and increased refinement.

The new system negates the need for the Manual button, as the driver can now simply push the gear lever into the left channel to select this mode. The different settings, listed below, can be selected via the switches next to the gear lever:

  • Auto Normal: this default mode provides smooth gearshifts at low revs to maximise ride comfort and minimise fuel consumption.
  • Auto Sport: in this mode, gear changes are faster (under 100 ms) and occur at higher revs for a much sportier driving experience
  • Manual Sport: the driver is in full command of the transmission; the only automatic feature is downshifting if the revs drop too low
  • Auto Off-Road: this mode retains all the benefits of the Off-Road setting but adds the convenience of automatic shifting
  • I.C.E. (Increased Control & Efficiency): not just for use in icy or low-grip conditions, this mode ensures an even quieter, smoother ride plus lower fuel consumption
  • Corsa Mode: only available on Levante Trofeo, this immediately creates the most dynamic settings for the engine, gearbox, air suspensions, Skyhook, steering, exhaust system, traction control and stability control.

Beyond just offering distinctive style to the appearance of the Levante, the newly available Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights - availbale as option - deliver additional safety and convenience for the driver and other road users. With 15 LEDs operating at full beam, these headlights offer a 200% greater field of vision than traditional halogen lights. The advanced technology, which includes an Adaptive Driving Beam, can be activated and deactivated using the relevant virtual button in the infotainment system.

It cleverly turns corners before you do and instantly responds to other road users to avoid dazzling them. The reaction time is less than 2 seconds for a vehicle between 100 and 800 metres away, and less than 1.25 seconds for any vehicle or person within the 100-metre range.

This system is developed to deliver the hallmark Maserati rearwheel- drive experience, even when grip is poor. In normal conditions, the Q4 system sends all torque to the rear wheels, for perfectly balanced Maserati driving dynamics and optimal fuel consumption.

If traction is lost due to sudden acceleration or low grip on the rear axle, Q4 can alter the torque split from 100 per cent rear-wheel drive to 50-50 between the front and rear wheels. It all happens in an imperceptible 150 milliseconds – or less than the blink of an eye. Torque vectoring and a mechanical Limited-Slip Differential at the rear axle, unique for this class of vehicle, also provide essential support when it comes to dynamic driving stability.

Dynamic Suspension Layout Double wishbone suspension layouts are another Maserati tradition. With the Levante, the all-aluminium set-up at the front is designed to ensure precise handling coupled with accurate and communicative steering. At the rear, a five-arm multilink system provides the perfect blend of comfort and dynamic performance. Both front and rear suspensions, meanwhile, feature anti-roll bars to keep the driving experience relaxed and enjoyable at all times. Sport Skyhook System The Levante features the Sport Skyhook suspension, which continuously adapts shock absorber damping to suit the situation. The system monitors body and wheel movement, damper settings and suspension height. Depending on the selected driving mode, the damping rate is then adapted separately for each wheel. Brakes

Driving the high-riding Maserati Levante is an uplifting experience in many ways – not least when it comes to the on-board audio entertainment. The optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound system brings the most elevated levels of audio refinement to the Maserati Levante. At its core is a state-of-the-art, 12-channel 900-watt amplifier, delivering rich and detailed sound quality, whatever the source: be it radio, MP3 player, iPhone® or audio streaming device. The 14 high-powered speakers – four tweeters, four woofers, five mid-range speakers and a 20-litre bass box subwoofer – are carefully sited throughout the cabin, promising sublime sound for all on board.

For those seeking the ultimate acoustics in their Maserati Levante, the answer is the optional Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system – the last word in sound perfection. Seventeen speakers, with mid-range drivers and woofers made from aramid fibre and Rohacell®, have been strategically built into the SUV’s architecture, while a 1,280-watt amplifier ensures immersive sound for all on board. The system features QuantumLogic®™ Surround Sound Technology, which digitally remodels signal streams and reconstructs the original recording of a musical piece, creating a concert hall experience in the car. Along with this, the Clari-Fi™ music restoration function restores detail lost in digitally compressed music, and also removes distortions caused by the process. The Bowers & Wilkins system is compatible with most disc formats and features a built-in USB connector for a smartphone, iPod or MP3 player. Alternatively, tracks can be directly streamed via Bluetooth®.

The advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, putting the power of the Quattroporte engines under your complete control. This ensures optimum dynamics for any given road condition, at any time.

Suspensions: double wishbone and Skyhook Double wishbone suspension layouts are a race-bred tradition at Maserati. The Quattroporte also features Skyhook suspension, with shock absorbers delivering continuous damping variation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movement of each wheel and the car’s body to determine the road conditions and how the car is being driven. It then instantly adjusts the settings of each damper accordingly. Electric Power Steering The system adapts the steering weight according to speed, being lighter and easy to turn when manoeuvring in a tight spot, for instance. Conversely it has a weightier, more connected feel at high speeds. All Quattroporte versions feature EPS as standard. Brakes

Driving a Maserati is an emotional experience, with every piece of technology and every trim detail designed to connect on a human level. The same can be said of the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system. This optional audio package is the product of 50 years of Bowers & Wilkins’ countless hours of testing and even extensive research in the field of psychoacoustics – the science of how people react emotionally to sound. 15 speakers, with mid-range drivers and rear-woofers made from aramid fibre, have been strategically built into the car’s architecture, while a 1,280-watt amplifier ensures immersive sound for all on board. This is made possible by a camera mounted in the rear-view mirror and sensors that monitor several different parameters, including the steering wheel position, the car’s speed and the way it is being driven.

The Maserati Quattroporte is equipped to meet every need when it comes to comfort and convenience – as befits a large, luxurious performance sedan. Climate Control with Air Quality Sensor The standard automatic dual-zone climate control adjusts ventilation intensity according to outdoor temperature to make sure nothing compromises your comfort, whatever the weather. As an option, the Quattroporte can be equipped with a four-zone climate control system, with two more controls in the rear part of the central tunnel allowing passengers to select their own personal settings and individual airflow distribution. Keyless go / Keyless Entry The standard Keyless Entry function enables you to open the doors or boot via the handles, without touching the key fob. But the best is still to come; marvel as the engine roars into life the moment you press the ignition button. Power Tailgate with Kick Sensor The power tailgate can be opened and closed automatically by simply pressing a button on the tailgate itself or the interior dome light panel. There is also a kick sensor, which is particularly handy when your hands are full. Glasswork

The Quattroporte offers, as standard, the electrochromic door mirrors, which darken progressively as the light intensity from behind increases, as well as a power rear sunblind. It also has high thermal and noise insulation glass in the front and rear windows. Dark-tinted privacy glass at the rear is available as an option.

A true GranTurismo needs a grand-scale engine – with continentcrossing capabilities and a ruthless streak, as and when you need it. Which is where the Ferrari-built 4.7-litre V8 comes in. This compact and lightweight powerplant is fitted to all GranTurismo models, develops 460hp, 520Nm of torque and revs to an impressive 7,500rpm. It also makes extensive use of motor sport-derived technology for race-grade resistance to high dynamic loads while maintaining exceptional refinement. The engine can power the GranTurismo Sport and MC from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.8 seconds and 4.7 seconds on to a maximum speed of 299km/h (186mph) and 301 km/h (187mph).

All this power finds its way to the road via a ZF six-speed MC Auto Shift gearbox. This operates in Auto-Normal, Auto-Sport, Manual-Normal, Manual-Sport and ICE modes. These offer a wide range of driving styles. Not only does this smooth out the transition, the pops and burbles are also a joy to the ears of any motor sport aficionado.

Near-perfect front-to-rear weight distribution – with a marginal rearward bias – has always been a Maserati hallmark. This is achieved with the GranTurismo models, in customary style, by locating the V8 just behind the front axle. Out on the open road – or on the race track – this delivers a world of benefits. They include naturally balanced handling, optimum grip, great steering feedback and precise directional stability. A double wishbone suspension set-up, hydraulic steering – rather than a less engaging electro-mechanical system – Brembo brakes and a sophisticated mechanical limited slip differential also contribute in these vital areas.

The GranTurismo Sport offers Sport Skyhook damping, which constantly adapts its settings to suit the road conditions (optional for GranTurismo MC). Normal is a day-to-day configuration that still, nonetheless, maintains the essential dynamic involvement you would expect of a Maserati. Sport, meanwhile, provides a far more direct and firmly set up driving experience.

Driving, or being driven in, a Maserati is a uniquely rousing experience. So it’s only fitting that the vehicle has an audio system always perfectly in tune with the mood – whether you’re driving hard or soaking up the miles on the trip of a lifetime. This comes in the shape of new premium audio systems from worldclass audio innovator Harman Kardon – tailor-made for the interiors of the GranTurismo. The system features AuraVox  sound tuning and Harman Kardon sound processing technologies. These are exceptionally advanced packages that deliver distortion-free and detail-rich listening enjoyment in all four seats. As for the styling, advanced technology allows the powerful speakers to be exceptionally compact so they integrate seamlessly with each interior. There is also, of course, the inimitably elegant yet hi-tech look of the Harman Kardon brand to enjoy .

An all-new Infotainment system for all GranTurismo models includes a high-resolution 8.4’’ Maserati Touch Control Plus unit (MTC+) that allows simple and intuitive control of features such as audio, navigation and comfort functions. There is also a user-friendly rotary controller in the central console and the system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. MTC+ can be operated in three ways: via the touch-screen, the rotary controller or Siri voice command. The system’s menus have options to configure the car’s main settings and menus are readily accessible through the icons displayed at the bottom of the touch-screen. Other highlights include a handy mobile phone storage compartment containing an SD card reader, a USB socket and an aux-in port.

This allows the user to play music, watch films or even view images. Bluetooth connectivity, meanwhile, is standard.

As for accessing the rear seats, the Easy Entry system makes life particularly easy. Both front seats slide forward and back electrically, giving plenty of room whether passengers are getting into or out of the car. Two individually profiled rear seats, along with class-leading head and legroom, a central pull-down armrest, two cupholders, courtesy lights and a pair of climate control vents also ensure excellent comfort.

A true GranCabrio needs a grand-scale engine – with continentcrossing capabilities and a ruthless streak, as and when you need it. Which is where the Ferrari-built 4.7-litre V8 comes in. This compact and lightweight powerplant is fitted to all GranCabrio models, develops 460hp, 520Nm of torque and revs to an impressive 7,500rpm. It also makes extensive use of motor sport-derived technology for race-grade resistance to high dynamic loads while maintaining exceptional refinement. The GranCabrio Sport and GranCabrio MC reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standing start in 5.0 and 4.9 seconds respectively. Top speeds are 288km/h (179mph) and 291km/h (181mph).

All this power finds its way to the road via a ZF six-speed MC Auto Shift gearbox. This operates in Auto-Normal, Auto-Sport, Manual-Normal, Manual-Sport and ICE modes.

Brakes

All versions of the Maserati Levante feature powerful Brembo brakes carefully matched to engine performance. The discs are dual-cast, combining the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass and, therefore, increase handling prowess.

The interior of the Levante is built around a driver interface that is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. The instrument cluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometer and speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display.

Thanks to autoadaptive software, the transmission modifies its shift patterns according to driving style, for an even more rewarding, one-to-one driving experience. And when it comes to long, high-speed journeys, the last two gears, seventh and eighth, are specially calibrated to reduce fuel consumption and further increase comfort. The transmission sends power to the rear wheels of all Quattroporte versions via a standard mechanical Limited- Slip Differential (LSD). This ensures superb traction even in challenging situations. For maximum driver involvement, there are five operating modes, selected using the buttons near the gear lever: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport, and ICE (Increased Control & Efficiency) mode.

Upshifts are all automatic unless a manual mode is selected.

The Quattroporte S Q4, with its compact and lightweight intelligent allwheel drive system, is the perfect choice for drivers seeking the rewards of rear-wheel drive with the back-up of four-by-four traction. The Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system continually analyses six parameters: driving style, steering angle, yaw angle, speed, wheel slip and power output. Drive torque from the 430 CV V6 petrol engine is then distributed to suit the situation. In normal conditions, the Q4 system sends all engine torque to the rear wheels, for perfectly balanced Maserati driving dynamics and optimal fuel consumption. If traction is lost due to sudden acceleration or very low grip at the rear axle, Q4 can alter the torque split from 100 per cent rear-wheel drive to 50-50 between the front and rear wheels.

Alfa Romeo.)
